Riverbend Park in Jupiter Farms: 1838 Loxahatchee Battlefield Commemoration

Just west of Jupiter and Jupiter Country Club is the nearly 1,000 acre County Park called Riverbend Park.  The park includes the headwaters of the Loxahatchee River, one of two Federally Designated Wild & Scenic Rivers in Florida.  It also has several miles of shell rock road open to hikers and bikers and where each month on the full moon the park holds a full moon bike ride.

Canoe Outfitters rents canoes and kayaks or you can bring your own and work you way down the River, past enormous cypress trees, over several weirs, down to Trapper Nelson's old camp and then on to Jonathan Dickinson State Park.  You can join CO and they will pick you up in the Park and return you to Riverbend.  A trip down this river is like a trip back in time.

One of the other annual events held in the Park is the Commemoration of the 1838 Battle sponsored by the Loxahatchee Battlefied Preservationists.  This year, the event is being held Sunday, Jan 16 from 9 to 3.

Here is the video from last year.

It's a great family event held under majestic live oaks.  Plan to come out for a day of fun, see the Park, and when you are done, pick up some great authentic Mexican food at Guacamole just west of the Park in Sierra Square.  Then take a ride through Jupiter Farms.

Jupiter Farms is a dedicated equestrian area where homesites are one acre or more in size and where peace, privacy and freedom to do as you please are the order of the day.  Homes in Jupiter Farms start in the mid-$100's and go up to several million dollars.
